Energa sets up innovative high-voltage pylons
Energa Operator Branch in Płock is about to finish the construction of an overhead and underground 110 kV power transmission network located in Łęczyca and Daszyna communes in Łódzkie Voivodeship. New pylon designs developed by Energa Invest under the Pylon project were used during construction work. With the new solutions, it is possible to reduce the number of pylons which need to be erected on private land or in areas of natural beauty.
Energa Invest was responsible for developing the building permit design and detailed technical design, and Energa Operator Wykonawstwo Elektroenergetyczne was in charge of construction work. The use of supporting structures based on the company’s own engineering concept opens up a new chapter in the execution of construction projects for power distribution grids. Apart from simplifying the design and construction process, this comprehensive solution will also reduce the time needed to remove any future power grid failures.
5 different types of double-circuit pylons that comply with the latest standards were used for the construction project. Selected structures underwent real scale tests at a certified testing station.
Energa Group is the first energy company in Poland to boast a complete catalogue of its own supporting structures for transmission lines energized at 110 kV. With the innovative solutions it applies, the Group is able to minimize the number of pylon locations, and consequently reduce investment expenditure. The maximum permitted conductor span length is almost 400 m.
Longer spans mean greater opportunities to avoid locating electricity pylons on private land or in areas of natural beauty. A decrease in the number of electricity pylons translates to a reduced amount of materials used, including steel, concrete, and power equipment. In addition, the pylons allow for several types of phase and ground conductors to be used, offering a wide range of possibilities regarding the current capacity of the line.
The catalogue of lattice towers for 110 kV lines by Energa Invest won the PTPiREE President’s Cup during the Bielsko-Biała International Power Industry Fair ENERGETAB 2019.
The Pylon project was developed in close cooperation with experts from Energa Operator. Solutions created for this project constitute an offer addressed to engineering design companies and all energy groups in Poland, and especially to power distributors. Thanks to this, it is possible to unify high-voltage transmission lines based on one solution and transfer the concept of standardization to other distribution network operators.
