Three-fold increase in micro-generators connected to the Energa power grid
A record number of renewable energy sources were added to the Energa Operator's grid in 2019. Nearly 18,000 micro-generators were connected to the network managed by the Company. This means that the number of such energy sources increased three-fold since the end of 2018.
The exceptionally rapid growth in new micro-generators in 2019 marks the beginning of a transformation of the energy market. Distributors must upgrade their networks to handle bi-directional energy flow as soon as possible. Ensuring that its infrastructure meets the requirements of renewable energy is one of Energa Operator's investment priorities. The company is looking for innovative solutions, also as part of international projects, such as Upgrid or the recently launched EUniversal.
The total installed capacity of 28,000 micro-generators connected to Energa Operator's power grid is now nearly 200 MW. Most of them are solar farms, but there are also other kinds of household power generators. Energa Operator's grid is supplied by 25 wind generators, nearly 80 hydropower plants, 12 biogas plants and 17 micro-generators utilising both solar and wind power. In 2019, the installed capacity of micro-generators increased by over 120 MW.
The last quarter of 2019 was particularly successful, as 7,300 micro-sources were connected to the grid, with a total installed capacity of nearly 50 MW.
