Energa has launched the first electric vehicle carsharing
Energa has launched a car rental service in Gdańsk offering only electric vehicles. It is the first service of this kind in Poland. The price for renting an electric car depends on the model and ranges from PLN 27 to 35, without any mileage cap. Energa has announced that over the next 2 years it will open 4 such carsharingowe HUBs.
One of Energa Group’s objectives is to develop and popularize electromobility. Over the past few years the company has launched in the Tri-City a charging network, which currently comprises 7 stations, and is the first in Poland to carry out a comprehensive research on Polish users of electric vehicles. The launch of carsharing is another step which will enable Tri-City drivers to test electric vehicles. It will translate into increase in their popularity and enable the company to gather new data for the future in order to offer products and services adapted to actual needs of electromobility users.
Short-term lease of Energa’s electric vehicles (carsharing) is a service addressed to business and institutional clients. The rental is offered to employees of companies which sign an agreement with Energa Group’s Enspirion (the operator of this service). The settlements will be made between the operator and the business clients using the service. However each client decides on the formula for making the cars avaiable to its employees. Energa’s carsharing is currently available to businesses - seated in the Olivia Business Centre office complex, which accomodates approx. 200 companies employing over 5 thousand people. Two more HUBs will be launched this year and by the end of 2018 there will be in total 5 HUBs.
- We are starting with Olivia Business Centre, where our registered office is located, but soon we want to offer our carsharing to any interested company in the Tri-City. Our service works like a company mobile phone. Each company can make it available to its employees and set its own usage rules – says Tomasz Bogucki of Enspirion, Energa Group company dealing with electromobility and innovations.
Simplicity and environment
The car rental interface is very intuitive. It takes just 3 clicks to select the car model and define the preferred rental time. Cars can be rented by the hour, on business days, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You also have an option to rent a car for the rest of the day or for the whole weekend. The price will depend on the model and time of day and day of the week.
For one hour of driving a Volkswagen e-UP between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. you will pay PLN 27. Its rental for the rest of the day (16 hours) will cost PLN 96 and weekend rental is PLN 192. Electric Renault Zoe will cost PLN 30 per hour, PLN 108 per 16 hours in the rest of the afternoon and night, and PLN 208 for the weekend, respectively. Class C Premium cars, i.e. VW e-Golf and Nissan Leaf, cost PLN 35 / 128 / 256, respectively.
The client will not be charged with any additional costs. Car charging in Energa’s terminals is free. In the Tri-City the company has currently 7 charging terminals. Their locations can be found at: emobility.pl
Electromobility in the Tri-City and offer for municipalities
Still this year Energa will launch two more carsharing locations in the Tri-City and by the end of 2018 there will be in total 5 locations. The next HUBs will be located in shopping and business centers. You will be able to rent and return a car in each of them, and the whole operation will be ultimately self-service (currently the cars are issued and collected by a consierge in Olivia Business Centre). As the carsharing is expanded to include further locations, any interested company will be able to sign up for the service. Consequently, more and more Tri-City residents will be able to use the carsharing service.
Energa has also prepared a special solution for local governments which face the challenge of implementing low-emission transport. The company offers to municipalities rental of a small electric vehicle fleet for a specified time, installation of a charging station and the possibilty of free charging. This will enable them to verify in practice what the usage of such vehicles looks like. In addition, Energa wants to share the experience gathered over the past few years, providing municipalities with consulting pertaining to implementation of transport based on electric vehicles.
Already in May each Energa client will be able to install its own charging station in a location of its choice. This applies to both small charging terminals for personal use and to commercial charging stations, e.g. at hotels or restaurants.
