ENERGA advances to the WIG20 Index
Following the annual index review conducted by Warsaw Stock Exchange, ENERGA SA will join the prestigious WIG20 Index comprising the top companies on the WSE. The Company’s shares will be included in this index after the session on 20 March 2015.
According to the decision adopted by the WSE Management Board on 12 February 2015, ENERGA SA’s shares will become part of the index comprising the 20 largest and most liquid companies listed on WSE’s main market following the session held on 20 March 2015. That is the outcome of the annual index review, leading to a change in its list of participants and the blocks of shares of the participating companies.
'We are strengthening our position as a public company every month. Last year our company’s shares joined important indices. We are commencing 2015 with more good news. Energa’s high capitalization and the liquidity of its shares enabled Energa to qualify to join the premiere league of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. I am convinced that this will translate into even greater investor interest. We treat this advance as a great distinction of symbolic significance' says Mirosław Bieliński, CEO of ENERGA SA.
In early 2014, a mere several weeks after debuting on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, ENERGA joined the WIG40 Index. Soon thereafter it advanced to the community of companies in the WIG30 Index. Mid-year the time arrived for it to join the MSCI Poland and FTSE All World international indices. In turn, its high dividend rate was the basis for ENERGA to qualify for inclusion in the WIGdiv Index, while the actions it pursues in corporate social responsibility enabled ENERGA to enter the community of socially responsible companies whereby its shares were included in the Respect Index.
The WIG20 Index has been calculated since 16 April 1994 on the basis of the portfolio value of the 20 largest and most liquid companies on WSE’s Main Market. WIG20 is a price index meaning that only transaction prices net of dividend earnings are used to calculate it. No more than 5 companies from a given listed sector may participate in the WIG20 Index. The WIG20 Index is the base index for the WIG20short and WIG20lev indices.
