ENERGA listed as Global Compact participant
On 15 September 2014, ENERGA SA joined the UN Global Compact initiative by endorsing its ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
Human Rights
- Support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights;
- Eliminate any abuse of human rights by the company;
Labour
- Uphold the freedom of association;
- Eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
- Work towards abolition of child labour;
- Effectively prevent discrimination in respect of employment and occupation;
Environment
- Take a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
- Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility;
- Apply and diffuse environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
- Work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
Global Compact is globally the largest UN initiative for corporate responsibility and sustainability. This initiative supports and facilitates partnership between governments, civil society, employers and the UN. Since its launch in 2000 by UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, the Initiative has been endorsed by over 12,000 members from 145 countries.
