Another modernization of the Ostroleka Power Plant

ENERGA continues the modernization of the Ostroleka Power Plant. The Group signed an agreement with the consortium of Alstom Power and Zakłady Remontowe Energetyki Katowice to execute the investment project that will reduce fuel consumption and emissions of pollutants and increase the plant's capacity by about 25 MW.

The purpose of the investment project is to increase the efficiency of coal consumption in the Ostroleka B Power Plant. Following the modernization of some of the generating equipment in power unit 2, the volumes of combustion by-products will decline and pollutant emissions will decrease.

The value of the investment project is over PLN 24.6 million and the ENERGA Group has obtained part of that amount from the EU Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.

This is not the only investment project in progress in the Ostroleka Power Plant. By the end of the current year, ENERGA Elektrownie Ostroleka plans to select a contractor for the exhaust gas denitrification installation and a contractor for the modernization of electrofilters for Ostroleka B power units.

In line with the capital expenditure program being implemented, by 2016 ENERGA will apply approximately PLN 498 million towards the modernization of generating equipment in the Ostroleka B Power Plant. The planned expenditures will boost efficiency of the company's operation and prevent the otherwise necessary reduction in the scale of its business. Thanks to the current modernization work, the existing power units will be able to generate electricity for over 15 more years and the installed capacity of the power plant will remain at the current level.

The modernization expenditures also include the construction of a new heat source through addition of heat generation to the Ostroleka B Power Plant. The purpose of this project is to secure the supply of heat to the city of Ostroleka and other customers following the closure of the outdated part of the plant, i.e. the Ostroleka A Power Plant. The installation will be commissioned for production in March 2015. However, even now, in the phase of regulatory trials and tests, the Ostroleka B Power Plant delivers heat to all of its customers.
