ENERGA has published its third CSR report
The ENERGA Group has published its third CSR report summarizing the Corporate Social Responsibility measures taken in 2013. ENERGA is the first utility in the power industry to attain an A+ level for its report by presenting 91 ratios according to the international standards under the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
The report entitled „Our Responsibility in 2013” is a continuation of the previous two publications for 2011 and 2012. It depicts the ENERGA Group’s approach to managing social and environmental issues in the pursuit of economic objectives. Preparing this report is a natural consequence of the Group’s adoption in 2013 of a document entitled „Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy in the ENERGA Capital Group”. This report covers 15 Group companies and is the product of work performed by employees and external stakeholders involved in the reporting process.
“Sustainable development is manifested not only by caring for a high level of service quality or the security of power infrastructure but also by cooperating with local communities, undertaking educational and sponsoring efforts and supporting ecological initiatives. We are cognizant that our efforts will be more effective if they are aligned to the endeavors of other stakeholders. That is why we are building social ties and also striving to foster trust by openly reporting our company’s environmental impact”, recapitulates Mirosław Bieliński, CEO of ENERGA S.A.
This year’s CSR report, just as previous reports, has been prepared according to the international reporting standards under the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This year, 15 Group companies were analyzed and the number of GRI ratios was increased to 91, and the credibility of the data presented was confirmed for the first time by an independent external auditor. In this manner this report attained the A+ level.
“We are the only utility in the power industry to report at such a high level; moreover, in the most recent report we also incorporated international GRI ratios for the utility sector. This has enabled the ENERGA Group to become one of the top firms to publish CSR reports in Poland”, adds Jacek Szubstarski, Director of the Division of Organizational and Legal Services in the company doing business as ENERGA Centrum Usług Wspólnych, the coordinator of the process to produce the report.
The report entitled „Our Responsibility in 2013” and the Group’s previous CSR reports are available in soft copy form on the company’s web site: http://grupa.energa.pl/Raporty_CSR.xml
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a set of guidelines and ratios, which organizations should utilize to measure and report the economic, environmental and social aspects of their operation. Depending on the extent of the report’s sophistication, GRI has set application levels A, B and C (with A being the highest). Each report prepared according to these standards is also ultimately verified by GRI.
