ENERGA: The Group’s production portfolio extended to include another two wind farms

As of today, ENERGA Group, together with PGE, has become the new owner of IBERDROLA wind farms in Poland. It is the second recent acquisition of wind power assets completed by ENERGA Group with its partner. As a result of both transactions, the Group has acquired 165 MW in wind turbines and now the  RES amount grew to ca. 40% of the Group’s production potential.

Under the agreements signed today, ENERGA acquired two wind farms operating in northern Poland – Karścino in the Western Pomerania  voivodeship and Bystra in the Pomerania  voivodeship – with a total installed power of 114 MW, as well as a design package with an estimated power of approximately 1190 MW. PGE acquired operating wind farms with installed power of 70.5MW and a design package. The former owner of 75% of the shares in the acquired assets of IBERDROLA Renewables Polska was its Spanish parent company. The remaining 25% belonged to the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development. The transactions completed with the two entities at the same time are worth ca. PLN 1.1 billion.

In June this year, ENERGA and PGE acquired wind farms from the Danish company DONG Energy. Under the transaction, ENERGA acquired Karcino wind farm in the Western Pomerania voivodeship with a power of 51 MW and designs of installations with a power of ca. 220 MW.

Both acquisitions fit within the strategic goal of ENERGA Group, i.e. using environmentally-friendly energy sources. After the acquisition of the Spanish and Danish wind farms, the installed RES power of ENERGA Group increased from ca. 343 MW to ca. 508 MW, and the estimated production will amount to 1.65 TWh (currently 1.3 TWh).

ENERGA Group is the largest provider of green energy in the country. It holds an 18% share of RES energy in its portfolio of energy supply to final recipients. Green energy is produced in a network of its own 49 hydroelectric power plants and wind farms, as well as in biomass installations. Together, the facilities produce ca. 1.65 TWh per year, which accounts for 37% of all energy produced by the Group. The Group’s network integrates ca. 35% of all the RES power installed in Poland (ca. 1,670 MW).

ENERGA Group supplies electricity to 2.9 million clients, which gives it a share of over 16% of the electricity sale market. It operates an electricity distribution system which covers one fourth of the Polish territory, relying on more than 192,000 km of power lines.
