ENERGA purchased assets from DONG Energy
ENERGA Hydro and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna signed contracts today with DONG Energy A/S to take over DONG’s wind farm portfolio in Poland. ENERGA has thus closed a deal which was initiated in February by a preliminary agreement.
As part of the transaction, ENERGA Group has taken over an operating wind farm in Karcino in Zachodniopomorskie Province, with a capacity of 51 MW, and five projects in progress in northern Poland, with a total planned capacity of approx. 220 MW. PGE, on the other hand, has acquired operating wind farms with installed capacity of 60.5 MW and a project package with a planned capacity of approx. 555 MW.
The transaction was recently approved by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). The entire deal is worth around PLN 1 billion.
Furthermore, a few days ago, ENERGA and PGE signed agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Iberdrola Renovables Energia S.A.U. to acquire a 100% share in the assets of Iberdrola Renewables Polska. The deal should be closed within the next few weeks. After both planned acquisitions, the installed capacity of RES at ENERGA Group will increase from 343 MW to more than 508 MW, and the RES production from 1.3 TWh to approx. 1.65 TWh.
The transactions are in line with the strategic objective of ENERGA Group, which is to operate environmentally friendly energy sources. ENERGA focuses on projects characterised by the lowest carbon dioxide emissions, aiming to reduce emission levels to 0.36 tonnes/MWh.
ENERGA Group is Poland’s largest green energy supplier. Its share in the portfolio of energy sales to end customers exceeds 18 percent. Green energy is generated by its own network of 46 hydropower and biomass plants. Around 1670 MW of RES capacities are connected to the Group’s network, representing approx. 35 percent of all RES capacities installed in Poland.
ENERGA Group supplies electricity to 2.9 million customers, giving a share of more than 16 percent in the electricity market. ENERGA Group operates an electricity distribution system covering a quarter of the territory of Poland, using more than 192,000 km of power lines.
